The Dumji sweater is inspired by the garments worn on the earliest Everest expeditions. However, rather than being stuck in the past, the Dumji Sweater in Chai Tea utilises modern fabric technologies to keep you warm and dry. Consisting of a mix of alpaca, nylon and merino wool, which is naturally odour resistant, the Dumji Sweater will quickly wick away moisture from your lower layers, to keep you comfortable and warm even if it is wet. Lightweight and practical this sweater nods to Nepalese style with its traditionally appeasing pattern.
A great festival held in the Khumbu area during the month of May or June every year amongst the Sherpa community. Along with serious rituals and dances performed by the monks, the festival is celebrated with dance and drink to honor the anniversery of Guru Rinpoche's birth on the lotus flower.
