Scarpa was founded in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains, in the Asolo and Montebelluna region. In fact, Scarpa stands for Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima, which means Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountain Area. This area of Treviso has long been known for its quality of handcrafted footwear, and so Scarpa has joined this tradition and very much become one of its forerunners. Scarpa’s initial mission was to bring together all the best shoemakers in the Asolo area toward the goal of producing the most effective footwear for any terrain. That pioneering spirit has continued at Scarpa to this day.
